Museum Sønderborg Hospital

Distance: 15.24 Km

The museum is located in building F, which was the original surgical department of the old German naval spa Sonderborg from 1911. The rooms have been carefully renovated over the years and help to give a good impression of the atmosphere of the past.

The exhibition shows, among other things, instruments from the 1800th century, teaching material in the form of bones and planks and treatment methods in the 1900s.

Did you know that the State Hospital Sønderborg got one of the first ECG appliances in Denmark? Rigshospitalet got the first one and you can see number 2 here at the museum.

In addition to the history of Dr. Ipsen and his methods, you can see the original experimental set-up with the thermometers for measuring patients' peripheral skin temperature during operations as well as the country's oldest preserved operating room from 1911.

The museum is open to individuals and small groups all year round.

Every Tuesday from 10 p.m. 12-XNUMX, with the exception of Danish holidays where it is closed.

For larger groups, guided tours / lectures are arranged in agreement with one of the board members.

There is free admission to the museum.
