Step into the dramatic days during the war in 1864 and become part of the drama while you gain new knowledge about one of the most important battles in Danish history.

Keep all your senses open as you move into the area where the sound of the roaring guns blended with the screams of the wounded soldiers. Explore the historically correct escarpment and look into the barracks in the soldiers' village behind the front, where tired young men rested between the bloody battles.

The result of the war in 1864 was that the multinational Danish whole state fell apart. Denmark was reduced to a national small state, but later regained part of Schleswig in the form of Southern Jutland in 1920. Prussia became the expanding German imperial empire, which subsequently collapsed and became the federal state of Germany, as we know it today. It is therefore a very central chapter in the history of Europe, which you will find here at the history center.

Dogs are welcome
They must be kept on a leash and debris must be removed. They should not taken into the cinema due to loud noises.

NB. During the winter period, November to March, a number of special events are held at weekends - see more below "Winter at Dybbøl Banke". It is also possible to book a visit with a guide. The history center also has a special one program during the winter holidays (week 7).
